How does QuickShow work?
QuickShow creates multiple slides by breaking an XHTML
presentation into multiple sections. Each section is contained
within a div with the class name "projection". When a show is
saved then the slides are assembled within an XHTML file along
with a number of stylesheets which control how the show is
displayed.
This is the code that QuickShow uses to display each of these
divs as separate slides when in full screen mode:
@media projection {
div.projection {page-break-before: always;}
}
Within the QuickShow interface authors can easily choose to
rearrange slides, to add and delete slides, to change the style
of the show, to check their spelling, and to check the validity
of their code using the HTML Tidy plugin.
As QuickShow uses standard stylesheets these can be easily
added to or modified, giving the author endless possibilities
for creating unique presentations.
What's new in version 2
Version 2 contains a number of additions and enhancements which
have turned QuickShow into a more versatile and useful self
contained presentation authoring tool, while still being an
ideal companion tool for users of the Opera web browser.
-
Full screen (presentation) mode.
-
QuickShow 2 now boasts its own full screen mode in which
slides are easily displayed in consecutive or reverse
consecutive order. Slides can also be easily jumped-to by
choosing from the context menu.
-
Printing
-
QuickShow 2 now supports printing of both slides and
handouts.
Slides are printed as they are displayed on screen, whereas
handouts also include any hidden "notes" and are displayed in
a manner which makes them more suitable as a reference for
the audience when giving an on-screen presentation.
-
Slide chooser
-
The "Select slide" menu and toolbar button have been
optimised so that it now displays a short title for each
slide making it easier to find the desired slide in a long
presentation. This is also used as the context menu in "Full
screen" mode
-
Customizable toolbars
-
All toolbars buttons can now be customized. This can be done
by invoking the "Customize toolbar" dialog from the toolbar's
context menu.
-
Search and replace
-
QuickShow now contains search and replace capabilities
similar to that of most advanced editors.
-
Enhanced CSS support
-
There are a number of enhancements in CSS support including:
-
Support for font-variant: small-caps.
-
Borders now supported for most inline elements.
-
All CSS border styles now supported.
